Principal’s Report
This week we held our annual Athletics Carnival, and what a fantastic day it was! It’s always a highlight of our school calendar, and it was wonderful to see our students giving their best, supporting one another, and displaying such outstanding sportsmanship throughout the event. Congratulations to all of our Age Champions and a big thank you to our families and community members who came along to cheer from the sidelines – your support makes a big difference!
Student Report Cards
End-of-semester report cards will be emailed to families on Wednesday of Week 10. If your email address has changed recently, please contact the school office to ensure we have your most up-to-date details.
Tracking Literacy Progress
At Mount Archer, we are very focussed on lifting the literacy and numeracy outcomes of all students. Mrs Griffin, Mrs Creek and I are currently working with every student to track their literacy growth. This information is shared with classroom teachers to support targeted teaching. If you are curious about your child’s progress, please don’t hesitate to speak with your child’s teacher or drop into the office for a chat with us.
Rockhampton Agricultural Show Success
This year, many of our students entered work into the Rockhampton Agricultural Show, and we’re proud to share that a number of students were awarded prizes for their efforts! A special thank you to Mrs Amanda Kearney for coordinating our entries and giving our students the opportunity to shine.
Thank you for your continued support,
Jeff Jepson

Mount Archer Day Fortnightly Focus
Our Fortnightly Focus for the Mount Archer Day in Weeks 7 and 8 has been to show respect for your own property and the property of others.
We have been teaching our students:
- Desk tops stay tidy.
- Raise your hand if there is something you need.
- We ask others first before we use their property
- We keep our tidy tray clean and organised
- Books are stacked neatly. Pencils in our pencil case.
- Keep desks in place. Floors are tidy.
- Care for classroom equipment.
Staff have voted for the classes who have best demonstrated showing respect for their own property and the property of others.

Digtial ThinkUKnow Presentation Update
Thank you to our Mount Archer parents who attended the recent ThinkUKnow online presentation. The session provided valuable insights into how we can better protect our children in the digital world. One key takeaway was that the average age of online gamers is 35, with most being men—an important reminder that not everyone online is who they appear to be. It was also recommended that children avoid using their real names online to help protect their identity.
The session also highlighted that social media laws are set to change in October, meaning children under the age of 16 should not be using social media platforms. Parents were also cautioned about apps with features that allow for hidden conversations or disappearing content. Although these features can make messages seem temporary, photos and videos can still be saved and shared. For more helpful resources and guidance, families are encouraged to visit the eSafety website.
As part of the Respectful Relationships Education program, Year 5 and 6 students will be learning how to recognise and assess risk in both offline and online contexts, and how to report any concerns. This will help students understand how to identify and respond to risky situations, including online bullying, sexual harassment, and assault. They will explore preventative strategies to keep themselves and others safe, and learn how to seek help from trusted adults, school staff, local community services, and online support networks. These important lessons aim to empower students with the knowledge and confidence to stay safe and make informed choices.
