Principal’s Report
At Mount Archer State School, we are committed to giving every student the best chance to succeed. Our 2025 Strategic Plan focuses on two key priorities: improving literacy and numeracy and creating a positive learning environment.
Helping Every Child Learn
We are strengthening reading, writing, and maths by:
- Running structured daily literacy and numeracy lessons.
- Tracking student progress to provide extra support when needed.
- Training teachers to use the best teaching strategies.
- Making sure all students have the resources they need to succeed.
A Safe and Happy School
We want all students to feel welcome and engaged at school. Our focus includes:
- Teaching respect and kindness through our Respectful Relationships Education program.
- Helping students attend school regularly by checking in and supporting families.
- Providing extra support for students who need it, including those in care, Indigenous students, and students with disabilities.
- Ensuring teachers and staff work together to provide a consistent, caring learning environment.
How Will We Know It’s Working?
We are aiming for:
- 85% of students showing improvement in literacy and numeracy.
- More students achieving higher grades in English and Maths.
- Better school attendance through follow-ups with families.
- A safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all.
We will keep parents updated on progress and invite you to be part of your child’s learning journey. If parents would like a copy of the strategic plan for 2025 please contact the office and we would be very happy to share the whole document with you.
Every Day Counts – The Importance of School Attendance

At Mount Archer State School, we believe that every day counts when it comes to your child’s education. The Queensland Department of Education states that all students should attend school every day, unless they are sick or have an approved reason.
Why is attendance so important?
- Missing school means missing learning – Even one day absent can make it harder for students to catch up.
- Regular attendance builds good habits – Attending school every day helps children develop responsibility and routine.
- School is more than just lessons – Being in class means children can build friendships, gain confidence, and take part in school activities.
- Higher attendance leads to better results – Studies show that students who attend school regularly perform better in reading, writing, and maths.
What can parents do?
- Set a routine – Encourage early bedtimes and morning routines to get to school on time.
- Talk about school positively – Show interest in what your child is learning and celebrate their achievements.
- Plan holidays outside of school time – Avoid taking trips during the school term.
- Report absences – If your child is sick, let the school know as soon as possible.
How we support attendance
Our school closely monitors attendance and follows up with families when needed. If your child is struggling to attend school, please reach out – we are here to help!

Mount Archer’s Eggsellent Parade!
Get ready for a cracking good time at Mount Archer’s annual Easter Bonnet Parade! On Friday, April 4, at 8:45 AM in the Hall, students will be showing off their most eggstraordinary creations in this year’s parade.
The theme for 2025 is "Eggs," so we can't wait to see the creative and colourful egg-inspired hats and bonnets that our students design. Whether it’s a nest of chicks, a sparkling golden egg, or a classic Easter masterpiece, the possibilities are endless!
There will be prizes awarded for the best egg-themed hat or bonnet in each year level, so students are encouraged to bring their most egg-citing ideas to life.
Families are warmly invited to join us for this fun annual event. We can’t wait to see you there for an eggsellent morning of creativity and celebration!

Badge Ceremony
Last Friday, we proudly celebrated our Badge Ceremony, recognising the newly appointed captains and student council representatives. It was a wonderful occasion where Councillor Elliot Hilse presented our student leaders with their badges, acknowledging their commitment to representing their peers and upholding the Mount Archer Day expectations. The students were outstanding, demonstrating confidence and enthusiasm as they stepped into their new roles. Leadership is a privilege and a responsibility, and we are excited to see these young leaders make a positive impact on our school community. Congratulations to all badge recipients—we know you will lead with integrity and dedication!
