Principal’s Report
Cooler Weather and Lost Property
As we head into the cooler months, it’s a good time to check that your child’s school jumpers and tracksuit pants are clearly labelled with their name. Living in Rockhampton, we often start the day with cool mornings that turn into warm afternoons – which means students often remove layers of clothing throughout the day. To help us return misplaced items, please ensure all pieces of clothing are clearly marked with your child’s name. Our lost property box is already filling up!

Rockhampton Curriculum Leaders Visit
This week, we were proud to welcome a group of curriculum leaders from across Rockhampton who visited our school to observe the intensive literacy work happening in classrooms. It was a pleasure to see our students confidently sharing their learning and proudly showing off their hard work. A big thank you to all our students and staff for the warm welcome and wonderful learning on display.
Semester 1 Student Reports
We’re getting close to the time of year when student progress reports are prepared and finalised. These reports will be emailed to families on the Wednesday of the last week of term. If your family’s email address has recently changed, please contact the school office as soon as possible so we can ensure you receive your child’s report without delay.
Thank You to North Rockhampton State High School
We extend our heartfelt thanks to North Rockhampton State High School for the beautiful new cross created for our school. Your generosity and craftsmanship have added a meaningful symbol to our community, reflecting both our shared values and the spirit of collaboration. We are truly grateful for your support.

Deputy Principal’s Report
Our Fortnightly Focus for the Mount Archer Day in Weeks 5 and 6 has been to keep hands and feet to self.
We have been teaching the students the importance of using “I” statements to respectfully respond to someone when there is a problem, rather than using hands and feet to hurt others. Our students are learning to deliver their “I” statement in a firm and friendly way, just like our High-5 Hand.
Our students are using the following simple framework to help them construct an “I” statement.

Respectful relationships education
Respectful relationships education aims to teach students how to develop behaviours and attitudes that promote healthy, safe and respectful relationships. Everyone has the right to be respected, feel valued and be treated equally. We all have a role to play in fostering respect.
The department’s Prep to Years 12 Respect program is aligned with the Australian Curriculum and provides teachers with age-appropriate teaching and learning resources to support students to develop the skills and knowledge they need to build and maintain healthy, positive relationships.
For more information on what students learn in the Respect program, visit the Respectful Relationships Education Hub External link.

This one-hour event will provide an overview of online experiences your children may have today, consider the challenges, and offer options to take action in building a safer online world for them.
Please join by clicking this link http://aka.ms/TUK_Parents between 2:45pm and 3:00pm on the day.

Mt Archer Sports Carnival – Save the Date!
A friendly reminder that our annual School Sports Carnival is just around the corner! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, 11 June, as we bring together students, staff, and our wider Mt Archer community for a day full of fun, spirit, and athletic excitement for our Year 2’s to Year 6’s on our main school oval.
On the same morning, our Prep to Year 1 students will take part in their very own Junior Sports Activity Carnival, celebrating school spirit and getting involved in fun, age-appropriate games. It's a wonderful way to introduce our youngest students to the joy of sports and team participation.
A full timetable and program for the day will be released soon – stay tuned! We look forward to seeing many of our families and supporters cheering on the students. Let’s make it another memorable Mt Archer event!
Friday Sport – Season 2 Underway!
Season 2 of Friday Sport is off to a fantastic start as we head into Week 3 of an 11-week season. This term, students are showcasing their skills in NRL, Hockey, and Netball, with Mt Archer proudly fielding Year 5 and Year 6 teams in each sport. Over the past two weeks, our students have already demonstrated great improvement and commitment in both skill development and teamwork. A big thank you to all families for your quick return of permission forms and payments—it’s truly appreciated given the short turnaround.
We’re excited to see how the rest of the season unfolds, with plenty of competitive fun, team spirit, and sporting growth ahead!

Online Consent and QParents
Mount Archer State School is moving towards an online consent system for all school-related permissions and communications. This transition will not only streamline processes for our staff but also make it more convenient for you as parents.
To ensure a smooth experience, we highly encourage all parents to sign up for QParents. QParents will be your one-stop shop for all student-related information and permissions, making it easier than ever to stay connected with your child's school activities, view and update important details, and submit consents quickly and securely from the comfort of your home.
Why QParents?

Simplified access: No more paper forms. You can give consent for excursions, events, and other activities with just a few clicks.
Real-time updates: Stay informed with up-to-date information on your child's attendance, reports, behaviour and progress.
Convenience: Access everything you need in one place, 24/7, using your smartphone or computer.
We believe QParents will significantly improve communication and make managing your child's school-related matters much easier.
If you need any assistance with signing up for QParents or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office. We are more than happy to help!

For Design Technology this semester, students have been examining the workings of pinball machines. As part of their learning, students were required to designed a pinball machine, sequenced the steps involved in constructing their design and finally constructed their pinball machine. Even though some found this process challenging at times, the end results were amazing.

4/5H
This Term, 4/5H have been exploring how the relationships of living things impact on their life cycle. Students have created an “Animal Adaptions” art display to show how different species camouflage into their diverse environments.

School zone parking and pick-up
School zone times have been standardised in Queensland to help motorists remember when to slow down. The standard operating times for most school zones in Queensland is 7:30–9am and 2–4pm.
School zones are areas around schools where, during certain times, reduced speed limits apply. Speed limits and drop-off, pick-up and parking rules exist to keep children, parents and carers safe and to minimise speed and traffic jams around schools.
