Principal’s Report
Welcome Back!
We hope you and your family enjoyed a restful mid-year break. It’s wonderful to see our students return with such enthusiasm—judging by their energy and focus, the holidays were a great success!
Focus on Literacy and Numeracy
Over the past eighteen months, our whole school has prioritised the development of strong literacy and numeracy skills. At the end of last term, every student was assessed by Mrs Griffin, Mrs Creek or myself to check their progress. We were very impressed with the results and proud of the dedication our students—and their teachers—have shown. If you would like to discuss your child’s progress, please speak with your classroom teacher or make an appointment with:
- Mrs Griffin (Years 5 & 6)
- Mrs Creek (Prep, Years 1 & 2)
- Myself (Years 3 & 4)
Report Cards
All student report cards were emailed to families at the end of last term. If you did not receive your child’s report, please contact the school office so we can resend it.
Attendance
Our whole-school attendance has slipped recently. Every day at school matters—missing even one or two days each fortnight can affect a child’s learning growth. Of course, please keep your child home if they are unwell. If they are frequently unwell, we encourage you to seek medical advice to support their ongoing learning.

Year 6 Classroom Refurbishment
The Year 6 classes have moved back into their newly refurbished learning spaces. Our department is rolling out upgrades across many schools, and we’re delighted with these improvements. Later this year, our front office will also be refurbished to enhance the welcome and support we provide to our community.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education. We look forward to a productive and enjoyable Term 3!

Deputy Principal’s Report
Mount Archer Day Fortnightly Focus

Our Fortnightly Focus for the Mount Archer Day in Weeks 1 and 2 has been to follow instructions. We’ve been focusing on helping students understand the importance of following instructions. This helps keep everyone safe, supports their learning, and ensures our school runs smoothly. Whether it’s listening carefully in class, following playground rules, or lining up sensibly, these simple actions make a big difference. You can support this at home by talking to your child about why instructions matter and encouraging them to follow directions the first time. Praise your child when they show responsibility and cooperation, and remind them that following instructions is a skill that helps them succeed at school and beyond.
NAPLAN Individual Student Reports
Parents and carers of students in Year 3 and 5 will soon receive in the mail, their child’s NAPLAN Individual Student Report. With the report, we have included an information sheet to assist parents and carers in reading and interpreting the NAPLAN results. A reminder that NAPLAN tests are only one aspect of each school’s assessment and reporting process. As they are held once every 2 years for each student, they cannot replace the extensive, ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance. Your child’s teacher will have the best insight into your child’s educational progress. Along with other school assessment reports, NAPLAN individual student reports can be used to discuss your child’s progress with their teacher.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD)
Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD). The NCCD process requires schools to identify information already available in the school about supports provided to students with disability. These relate to legislative requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005, in line with the NCCD guidelines (2019).
Information provided about students to the Australian Government for the NCCD includes:
- year of schooling
- category of disability: physical, cognitive, sensory or social/emotional
- level of adjustment provided: support provided within quality differentiated teaching practice, supplementary, substantial or extensive.
This information assists schools to:
- formally recognise the supports and adjustments provided to students with disability in schools
- consider how they can strengthen the support of students with disability in schools
- develop shared practices so that they can review their learning programs in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability.
The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability.
The NCCD will have no direct impact on your child and your child will not be involved in any testing process. The school will provide data to the Australian Government in such a way that no individual student will be able to be identified – the privacy and confidentiality of all students is ensured. All information is protected by privacy laws that regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. To find out more about these matters, please refer to the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy (https://www.education.gov.au/privacy-policy).
Further information about the NCCD can be found on the NCCD Portal (https://www.nccd.edu.au).
Please contact the school if you have any questions about the NCCD.

Year 4 Excursion
What a great day out!
We headed to Stocklands to learn more about frogs, thanks to the Australia Museum FrogID exhibition! Plus... We were treated to a behind the scenes tour to explore how Stocklands is reducing its carbon footprint. Did you know the rooftops of the shopping centre are covered in solar panels?
Thanks Stocklands for making this happen! https://www.frogid.net.au/
